Box dyes and drug store shampoos. My hair journey started out like any other experimental middle school girl, tragic. For years I went from one extreme to the other, icy white to jet black, not treating my hair correctly. I did not get my regular trims, have proper tools, or even use a good conditioner. It is important to note I am naturally a blonde, hence the blog name, and I finally ended up wanting to stick with my naturals. When I did settle, I still wasn't treating my poor hair that well. I still wasn't getting trims or using quality products. Now, oddly enough with all the dying of my hair in middle/high-school my roots started growing in dark (as pictured on left side photo) and so going to do the color-melt into blonde would be way less harsh on my hair. The photos I included really show how good these past 8 months have been for my hair. I have naturally curly/wavy hair and frizz had just been a part of my life up until I took control. I rotate between Kevin Murphy's Smooth Again Rinse and Kerastase's Nutritive Bain Satin 2 for shampoos because they tend to be the most soothing for frizz and also softening for my dry thick hair. Framesi's Moisture Rich Conditioner and Nexxus's Vital 8 in 1 Elastin and Coconut conditioner work great to add in shine, moisture, and repair damage. Adding in the darkness on my roots really helped give my face some color and not look so washed out. My brassy yellow was really taking away from my makeup looks and when I saw myself in photos I was not thrilled. Another plus of the dark on top was the fact that I can wait longer in-between visits. I am just so happy overall with the progress of my hair. I am looking forward to seeing my hair's length and overall health progress over the next year.
